Cellular rubber is a foamed material that can consist of both closed cells and open – or semi-closed – cells. Closed-cell rubbers are impervious to liquids and gas and are characterized by reasonable to good mechanical properties, depending on the rubber type. The best-known rubbers used for cellular rubber are NR, EPDM and CR (Neoprene). What is cellular rubber for?
Cellular rubber is a non-solid rubber product with a cellular structure. Where solid rubber is not “”soft”” enough or where the rubber product must be able to deform a lot. These cells can be open or closed, which affects the absorption and permeability of fluids. Due to its cellular structure, the material is easily and more deformable than solid rubber and can be compressed up to 70%, depending on the density of the material. Cellular rubber can be supplied as sheets or strips with or without an adhesive layer. Through die-cutting or cutting, for example, custom gaskets can be manufactured.
Extruded cellular rubber profiles
Furthermore, we can also supply extruded cellular rubber profiles. This material then has a closed skin. Cellular rubber is also available with a more open cell structure and a spongy character that is very suitable as a draught and wind barrier, soundproofing application, sealing or as a packaging material. This is also called Moss rubber or Moos rubber. As an extruded version, this material also has applications in vacuum technology. We can supply your orders of cellular rubber in strips or sheets. And if you wish, we can die-cut your cellular rubber as a flange gasket, flat rubber ring and/or in your desired shapes and sizes. We can punch or cut cellular rubber on CNC cutting machines. All cellular rubber products are available with and/or without single-sided or double-sided adhesive coating. We can also supply all cellular rubber products cut to length for you by order.
